The Black Box Theory Lab

Search is moving beyond a list of links. When a buyer asks an AI assistant for the best tool in a category, many brands cannot see whether they are mentioned or which sources shaped the answer.

Sorca began as Black Box Theory’s internal system for understanding how its own products appeared in AI answers. It is now a product built to give other brands that same visibility, along with practical next steps.

About the product

Category: AI search visibility (AEO)
Built for: Brands, marketing teams, and SEO agencies
Use case: Prompt tracking, citation mapping, share of voice
Channels: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews

100K+ prompts tracked

35×–85× growth in impressions and reach

Building it

Sorca runs the questions buyers ask across major AI models on a schedule. It records which brands appear and which sources the answers cite, creating a view of brand visibility over time.

Those sources, from review sites to public discussions, become custom data lists and a ranked set of actions: content to publish, pages to improve, and relevant conversations to understand.

What changed

Across the reported results, impressions and reach grew 35×–85× after using Sorca’s AEO/SEO systems and technology, comparing the several months before adoption with the several months after.

  • 100K+ prompts tracked.

  • 20+ brands in early access.

  • Share of voice tracked across 5 models and 1,000+ buyer prompts.

The change is visibility into a channel that used to be difficult to inspect. Brands can understand which sources contribute to recommendations and use that evidence to decide what to improve.

We built Sorca because we needed it. Our own products lived or died on whether AI recommended them, and nothing on the market showed us why.
